We hope you have enjoyed the sunshine over the weekend.
Here at school we have been working together to prepare to operate under Alert Level 3. For your information, I have detailed guidelines our school will be operating under in Alert Level 3.
Thank you for your prompt response to my email on Friday. Those students who are scheduled to be working onsite from Wednesday will receive an email from their classroom teacher tomorrow with relevant information including pick up and drop off points.
Alert Level 3 Guidelines at Berkley
Guidelines:
For the vast majority of Berkley students, school remains closed at Alert Level 3 and distance learning will continue online.
At Alert Level 3 onsite learning is only available for students whose parents or carers need to go to work and there is no alternative person who can supervise them.
Students with a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness must stay at home.
‘At school learning bubbles’ will be established across team and family groups and will not be larger than 10 students initially. Students may not be working with their peers, own classroom teachers or in their regular classroom space.
School will be open between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm. Drop off time will be between 8:45am - 9:00am. Pick up will be 3:00pm - 3:15pm.
Social distancing must be adhered to during pick up and drop off time and where possible parents are asked to stay in their car. There will be allocated drop off and pick up zones for each bubble.
Parents will be asked not to enter the school site unless in an emergency.
Children presenting with any signs of illness should not be at school and will be sent home.
The School Office is only open for phone calls and emails. No face to face access at Alert Level 3.
Students are welcome to wear Face coverings but are not required to do so.
Classroom protocols will include:
Students will have allocated seating with a minimum of 1m distancing inside and 2m outside. Social distancing protocols will apply and this means staggered break times in designated areas. Toilet facilities will be allocated for each team bubble.
Students will continue their programme of distance learning while they are at school.
There is no access to the adventure playgrounds or sports equipment.
The school is unable to provide lunches for students at this time and the canteen is closed.
Students are to bring their own water bottles. Water fountains are not to be used.
Regular and rigorous washing of hands will be encouraged for all students and staff throughout the day. Hand sanitiser will be provided along with soap and paper towels.
Hard surfaces and door handles will be wiped down and sanitized each day in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe. “Stay strong, stay home, be kind, and let’s finish what we’ve started.”
